The Beauty of Difference

Just discovered an amazing organization, Positive Exposure.  Founded by Rick Guidotti, a former fashion photographer, Positive Exposure uses photography and video to change public perceptions of beauty and diversity.  The organization uses media to educate and advocate for a more human-focused view of children with genetic, physical and behavioral differences- capturing the beauty and spirit of diversity.  Part of the magic of child life is approaching patients as children first- that’s where the rapport and trust comes from. Anything that helps children see themselves in a positive light, not avoiding their difference or negating it, but embracing them where they are is awesome. We all need people in our lives to see us and love us and celebrate us for who we are. Watching the TED talk was my feel-good moment of the day and I thought I’d share :)
